Creed Aventus For Men
Heart of a Lion
New Fragrance Review
by Michael Davis
"I love power. But it is as an artist that I love it.
I love it as a musician loves his violin, to draw out its sounds and chords and harmonies."
-Napoleon Bonaparte
Creed Aventus is a fresh and invigorating fragrance inspired by Napoleon Bonaparte. Its note pyramid pays homage to some of Napoleon's favorite things and key places in his life. Pineapple in the top notes to represent his favorite dessert, Royal Pinapple. Louisiana Birch in the heart representing the wood of his throne and the Louisiana Territory. Ambergris in the base as a metaphor for his navy. These notes and other accords make Aventus an intense, fruity, woody aromatic pleasure to wear and one of the best scents of 2010.
Olivier CREED, sixth-generation master perfumer and chief executive of Creed, created Aventus. His body of work includes Creed classics (and many personal favorites) Green Irish Tweed, Millesime Imperial, Himalaya, and Love In Black to mention a few. Opening notes provide an awakening roar of fresh bergamot, pineapple, and apples accented with blackcurrant. The heart of this lion is a throne of birch surrounded by lush roses and seductive, elusive jasmine one must chase to find. A calm, clear, meditative patchouli provides a calming transition to the oakmoss, ambergris and hint of vanilla in the base.

Wearing Aventus is an exploration. One moment, you are enjoying fresh pineapple and apples in a palace garden of roses and jasmine. Later, you might find yourself among river birch trees deep in the lower hardwood swamp forests of Louisiana's coastal region. On another day, you might feel as if you are sailing the Caribbean with a cargo of Haitian sugar. Aventus is open to the wearer's interpretation. On certain days, I smell pineapple and roses over a backdrop of dry woods, a seafaring ambergris and touch of vanilla. A more pensive mood facilitates the finding of more woods, forest air, and saltwater spray as the fruit and florals fade.
Aventus is bold, courageous, youthful, timeless, sharp, and soft. A chameleon of a scent that changes to match the wearer's perception and mood. A perfect scent for men and women with a taste for adventure. Notes; Top: Blackcurrant, bergamot, apples, pineapple. Heart: Roses, Louisiana birch, jasmine, patchouli. Base: Oakmoss, ambergris, vanilla.
